چکیده

Footwear is a fundamental piece of clothing that is worn in most communities throughout the world. Footwear protects the foot from extraneous trauma, it can provide comfort, and it is also a fashion item. It addition, certain footwear, for example, running shoes, are purported to provide improvements in performance and reductions in injury. Footwear can have a significant effect on the musculoskeletal system and there has been a substantial amount of research relating to these effects. One area of the musculoskeletal system that footwear has an effect on is muscle function. This chapter, therefore, concentrates on the effects of footwear on muscle function. To ensure a comprehensive and transparent review of the literature on this topic, and to minimize bias in the selection of information, we systematically searched the literature to incorporate all relevant studies. The Effects of Photobiomodulation on Shoulder Pain, Muscle Thickness, and Function in Subjects With Adhesive Capsulitis

Background: Adhesive capsulitis or frozen shoulder is among the most prevalent causes of pain and disability in individuals. Objectives: We aimed to evaluate the effect of Photobiomodulation (PBM) on pain, range of motion, and thickness and function of supraspinatus muscle in patients with adhesive capsulitis. Materials & Methods: Overall, 52 subjects (n=26/group) with adhesive capsulitis r...

Changing the texture of footwear can alter gait patterns.

The foot provides an important source of afferent feedback for balance and locomotion. Sensory feedback from the feet can be altered by standing or walking on different surfaces. The purpose was to determine the effects of textured footwear on lower extremity muscle activity, limb kinematics, and joint kinetics while walking. Three-dimensional kinematics and kinetics, as well as muscle EMG, wer...

Praoxon-induced changes in the function of chicken biventer cervices nerve-muscle preparation and the reversal of such changes by pralidoxime

One of the most toxic effects of organophosphate (OP) poisoning has been the paralysis of skeletal muscles that can lead to paralysis of respiratory muscles and death. However, oximes are the only antidotes available to reverse or prevent such toxic effects of OP insecticides and nerve chemical warfare agents. In the present research work, the effect of different concentrations of paraoxon (as ...

The effect of rollover footwear on head and trunk posture during standing

Background Footwear with a curved sole profile has become popular due to the proposed benefits to gait, posture and altered muscle activity and tone. In addition, rocker profiled footwear are one of the most commonly prescribed therapeutic shoes [1-4]. The altered movement of the body over the foot due to the curved sole profile is assumed to alter the position of the hips and thereafter the tr...
